Matera Rolling Hills A cycling weekend A weekend in the hills of Matera with ring circuits starting from the Sassi up to Montescaglioso, including the XII century Benedictine abbey, and Lake San Giuliano The possibility of extending the visit to the Rupestrian Churches Park is also available.

DAY 1 The natural oasis of Lake San Giuliano Arrival in Matera and transfer to Hotel.Distribution of bicycles and after a little briefing, beginning of the tour heading towards Grassano. The ride runs next to the beautiful and deserted road towards Lake San Giuliano, a peaceful natural oasis , destination of many migration species coming from Africa. Visit to the Original Sin Cript, featuring the oldest frescos in the territory. Return to Matera. In the evening visit to the Sassi, UNESCO's world heritage site, to the historic centre and to the Apulia Romanic style Cathedral. Dinner at a typical restaurant in the Sassi. Around 55 Km tour with final steep walk. Degree of difficulty: easy
DAY 2 Montescaglioso Departure from the Sassi heading south to the old hamlet of Montescaglioso. In the old centre, visit to the beautiful Sant'Angelo Abbey, the largest in the region. Further to the valley surrounded by orchids and olive trees. Return to Matera. Typical dinner in the Sassi. Around 58 Km tour with steep walk to Montescaglioso. Degree of difficulty: medium-easy
DAY 3 Breakfast and end of service
